Advise: Parent Route or Discretionary Leave ?

Hi All,

I would like to ask for some advise here please.

I have a discretionary leave which I got since I am a father to a british child. I was granted the discretionary leave after an appeal. We got separated when our son was about one year. The mother is a british citizen and we were never married. I have a court order for contact and I see my child over the weekend where I stay with him at my house from Friday until Sunday evening every week.

I meet the language and financial requirements as I have a UK degree and also work fulltime and earn over the required threshold.

My discretionary leave is coming to an end and would like to find out if I can apply for leave to remain under the 5 year or 10 year parent route.
