Bankruptcy and student visa/IGS?

Post by Loud1980 » Fri Jan 04, 2008 5:00 am

Hello everyone. I just had a question about bankruptcy and how it will affect my chances of getting a UK visa. I'm a US citizen and filed for bankruptcy (currently I'm considered discharged) a couple months ago. The reasons for filing were beyond my control (loss of employment + health). With no other options here in the US after the bankruptcy, I decided to apply for a postgraduate degree program in the UK with my parents agreeing to fully subsidize all the expenses. I was accepted into my program and now have to apply for a visa sometime soon. My concern is: will my bankruptcy affect me form getting a student Visa and will it affect me later when I apply for IGS after graduating? I'm very concerned about this. What about later on when I try to find employment in the UK? Please advise. Thanks!

Check the application forms for student visas and IGS on BIA's website. I didn't think they asked anything about bankrupcies.

On the job front, many jobs in finance and director positions have restrictions on brankrupts.
