EEA Family Permit - Allowed to Work?

Post by RoughSeas » Thu Dec 01, 2016 10:26 am

Could any of the knowledgables ones here would help with their say on the following questions that I have please?

1. I am non-EU, however my spouse is French citizen and so is our daughter. We are outside UK and currently residing in France. I understand that I can apply for EEA Family permit, once granted, would it allow me to take up employment?

2. I woud however would like ask to Residence card but looking through gov.uk, it appears that i cannot ask for for it as both are outside UK. Is that so? or can I still apply.

Any pointers please, Thanks in advance

1) Yes. If you can find an employer who understands that and accepts FP.

2) RC is applied for from UK once you/sponsor have assembled adequate supporting evidence.
It can't be applied for from outside UK as you are not resident in UK.

Great thank you for the prompt and precise response.

This however then begs another....

I started filling out form online and it says purpose of visit..should I be honestly writing Employment and Toursim. I do have an offer of employment though.

Do i have to wait for a period of time or can I ask for Residence card within few weeks of being Inside UK.

Thanks again!

You could say coming under auspices of free movement. During initial 3 months grace period you/sponsor don't have to do anything in particular.

You don't 'ask for RC' you may optionally apply once you have adequate evidence to support the application.
Typically 3 months worth of paperwork; spouse/sponsor evidence of work or other economic activity & etc etc.
