Spouse eligibility for naturalization

Post by sam1893 » Fri Dec 02, 2016 10:57 am

Hi

Going through the FAQs section I did find the answer to the question above but that topic seemed old so I thought I should post a fresh question to pick gurus' brains.

I came to UK in October 2010. My spouse joined me in August 2012. We both were granted ILR in December 2015.
Questions:
1. My understanding is that she can't apply with me later this month for naturalization. is that correct?
2. If she can't alongside me, when is the earliest she can? Would she be able to apply as soon as I'm naturalized on the basis of spouse if British citizen who has already spent at least three years in the UK?

Seeking advice from kind seniors / gurus
Many thanks,
S.

Assuming your absences are within the limits;

You can apply under section 6(1) in December 2016 (now I guess),

Your wife will be able to apply under section 6(1) in August 2017 OR under section 6(2) immediately when you become a British citizen.
