MN1 application. Has someone had the same?

Post by LaraSenna » Sun Dec 04, 2016 5:27 pm

I've applied for my son's citizenship using MN1 form under section 3(1). We received a letter dated from01/12 saying the application was successful and that we'd soon receive an invitation for a ceremony where the certificate would be given. But aren't these ceremonies only to people over 18?
What does it mean? My son is not even 2yo.
Has anyone received a similar letter within a similar situation?
Who should I contact about this?
Thanks,
Larissa

Is one or are both parents getting naturalised and are they due for a citizenship ceremony?

No. We both have ILRs
Our son was born in the UK and simply applied for his citizenship. I dont think we're even entitled to apply for naturalisation yet (I think we'd need to wait 1y on ILR)

Was the child born in the UK?

Yes. He was born in the UK... Otherwise we wouldn't be entitled to apply for citizenship
His application was approved, but the letter said we'd need a ceremony.

It must be an admin error. If not, then they should expect him to sing some nursery ryhm. It would be a good idea to email them or write them a letter.

There seems to be a contradiction here. Do you mean that you applied under 1(3)? Because according to your circumstances 3(1) wouldn't be the right application. I just wonder if there hasn't been a big pile of confusion right from the beginning.

Oh yes! Sorry it was my mistake when typing . We applied under section 1(3) child born in the UK to settled parents. His letter mentions the correct section as well 1(3). Thanks for noticing.
I emailed them and also called this morning (I think they're trained to do not understand what you ask). I had to ask to speak with the supervisor. When he finally understood what happened he said I would receive the certificate by post. I'm still not sure if they understood.
