Post by Alan1986 » Wed Dec 07, 2016 10:51 am

Hi guys,

I need help please, this is my situation. I am marrying my Italian wife (in South Africa), what is the process and visa I need to apply for in Italy?

Second, Once we are married, we want to go to the UK. What will I then need in order to work and live in the UK and what is the process?

Thanks

Get up to speed with free movement and treaty rights here:
http://ec.europa.eu/justice/citizen/doc ... 013_en.pdf

A non-EEA spouse (is that you?) will need an entry visa (FP) for UK unless from a visafree country. A FP will in any case smooth the way.
See https://www.gov.uk/family-permit/overview

An EEA national (eg Italian) will simply have to turn up in UK and live their life.

If planning to work in UK all workers need a NINO issued, see:
https://www.gov.uk/apply-national-insurance-number

To get started its as simple as that.

Thanks Noajthan

I started my visa application for the EEA permit, but where I get confused, my wife and I are both in South Africa. We would like to move to London together. Part of the questionnaire or the visa app is that I supply her work details, Income ect, this is not possible if we both want to go there to look for work and well, live our lives.

They also ask for her National Registration Certificate Number, Which apparently can only be applied for once you are IN the UK.

Thank Alan

Yes, its a poorly-designed and generic form used for all sorts of circumstances.

Suggest print off the paper version (its similar but not identical to online form). The paper form is on Gov UK website via a link for N.Koreans (!).

Practice filling that form in to get your head around it.
Fill in what's appropriate and relevant for your case.
So, yes, you wouldn't fill job details in for UK as you are not there (yet).
