Local charity manager as professional referee

Post by pochaco » Sun Dec 11, 2016 3:51 pm

When applying for British Citizenship I am considering the manager of the local Age UK centre as my professional referee. Age UK is a VAT registered charity, but when the list of acceptable professional persons mentions "Director/managaer of VAT registered Charity" do they mean local branch managers or managers on the national level? Obviously I have no connection to the national director of Age UK.

Thank you.

There are two options on acceptable professions list:
  • Director/Manager of a VAT registered Charity;
    Director/Manager/Personnel Officer of a VAT registered Company ;
if HO object to your choice of referee they will invite you to nominate another.

Thank you. It is good to know that if HO objects to my referee I will be able to choose someone else and won't lose the application fee.

Indeed. HO often get a bad press but they are not Philistines.

You can dig into such vital matters, here:
