Tier 2 Main Applicant Renewal without tier 2 dependent

Hello Experts,

I will really appreciate if you can help with my current situation.
I am in UK on Tier 2 Visa expiring in April,2017, do to personal reason my traveled back to India and is not in position to be back in country before March,2017.

I need to renew my Tier2 Visa with same employer under same job and looking to get new CoS number by end of Jan,2017.

Question 1: Can I only extend my Tier 2 General Visa without including dependent on my application ?
Question 2: Will I be OK to apply fresh dependent visa application based on my renewed Visa ?

I understand it's safe to get her in UK while renewing visa but kindly help me with understanding if there is way around getting Visa renewed with she being in UK.
