Applying for PR for citizenship - problems with WRS

Post by Mondaytofriday » Tue Dec 27, 2016 3:34 pm

Hello everyone,

Can someone please help me with some advice. Here is my situation.

I am from an A8 country and came to the UK in 2007. I lived with my fiancé and had some savings, we were travelling a lot and I didn't start working until 2008. I then did some voluntary work and a few part time jobs with a couple of agencies, none was longer than 30 days, so I never applied for WRS. I became a student in 2008, and in Sep 2009 I got Residence Documentarion. On it it said that I have a right to work in the UK, so after that in never bothered applying for WRS, as I understood it replaced WRs for me. I got married in 2009 and worked since then in a permanent position.

Now I decided to apply for citizenship. I don't really need it as such, but thought it would be nice. Started filing in the form for a permanent residence card, and there are questions for WRS. Now I started reading more about it I'm getting more and more confused. Have I broken any laws? Am I going to be in trouble? :(

Will be grateful for any help.

Thanks

EDIT:
I was just checking my docs and remembered that I also worked from October 2008 to July 2009 in a part-time job. I remember calling to find out if I need a WRS and I was told that I didn't as I was a student, so I didn't apply. Now I started googling and on Wikipedia it says that students are indeed exempt, but I think this is false, as here:
https://www.gov.uk/hmrc-internal-manual ... l/ccm20110
It says that student who work do. need it :((( so I think I was working illegally... not on purpose - I was misadvised :(

What do I do now? Do I explain it as it is in my application? Will I be given a fine? Will my application be refused? Or does none of this matter anyway, as I have been working for over 5 years now since WRS has been stopped?

I'm very confused :(

Your employer could have been fined for employing an illegal employee in the past but that is her problem not yours.

Did you have CSI as a student? or else your PR clock will not have been running during your carefree student years either!

You could apply for confirmation of PR based on activity since May 2011 when WRS was abolished.
You may well face consequences if you have ambitions for privilege of citizenship at a later date but there is no good character check for DCPR applicants.
