ILR absences (Ancestry)

Post by tahlia » Wed Dec 28, 2016 11:11 pm

I have a query on continuous residence/allowable absences for someone seeking ILR from an ancestry Visa.
I entered the UK 3 and a half months after the issue date of my Visa (entry in May 2012).
After this entry I spent one week in UK setting up my bank account etc then left for another month. After this additional month away from the UK I returned and got a job not long after (and am still working for this employer today).

My questions are:
- I understand the new rules allow me to use the days in-between visa entry date and actual entry date with no reason needed. Will the one month absence right after my first entry cause me any issues? I had not started working yet, so it can’t really be covered under the letter I’ll be getting from my employer. (I am under 180 days absence for each of the five years)
- I have a compassionate absence of 92 days for which I have various paperwork including doctors report, hospital discharge papers etc – should that be ok as backup?
- For question 6.1 on Set(O), could I just double check that date should be the date I entered rather than visa data, as obviously I’m under five years per entry date so it looks wrong!
Thanks in advance!
