English language requirement for FLR(M) application

Post by scoobydoolondon » Thu Dec 29, 2016 3:32 pm

For FLR(M) application due in March 2017 – is the requirement A2 of CEFR?

If so, is this the right exam to book?
http://www.trinitycollege.com/site/?id=3600

I realise we may be able to use the previous A1 exam but there are caveats around that – I just want to be sure that if we sit the A2 as above, from a Trinity College centre, this satisfies the English Language requirement for FLR(M) without question. Is that the case?

thanks

A2 level English is only a requirement for FLR(M) from the 1st May 2017.

Does that mean we can still use the A1 English Certificate from 30 months ago for the FLRM) application in March 2017?

FYI, the A1 exam was sat at The English Academy.

I just read that English exams are only valid for 2 years - does that mean we have to take another English exam for FLR(M) in any case (regardless of the May 2017 date for A2)?

If the above is true, may as well take the A2 exam rather than A1.

Are there any issues with submitting an English exam certificate greater than required?

thanks again

Can someone please advice on the English requirements.

As I see it, I have three options:

1) Use the A1 certificate from 2014 fiancé visa application (Exam sat with English Academy with Trinity College) - worried about the 2 year expiry on exams

2) sit new A1 exam at Trinity College

3) sit new A2 exam at Trinity College

I'm leaning towards #3 simply because it seems to be the "safest option" - can they refuse a higher exam if we go for #3? (we have a premium apt booked for next month)

thanks

As the A2 exam is already appearing on the official home office list of approved providers and examinations, to me, it means you can start using the A2 exam even before 1st of May when it becomes the only acceptable exam.

Wouldn't you agree?
27/5/14 - Applied in Islamabad
12/06/14 - Decision Delayed (Further Enquiries)
13/06/14 - Email & Call from VAC to collect Passport
16/06/14 - Visa Granted!

My wife has an IELTS certificate from when we initially applied for her spouse visa. I have been informed this has a validity of 2 years.

We are now applying for FLR(m) she is going for the B1 test for 2 reasons. First, it can be used for the ILR and then Citizenship. Secondly, it is better than the A2 and if for some reason they refuse and we have to reapply at a minimum we are covered by the changes in May for the increase in English language ability by applicants.
