Change of name in Naturalisation Application

Post by Liviana » Fri Jan 06, 2017 12:50 pm

Hi,

I am writing this as I have dilemma with the changing surname in the AN form ( I am aware there is the same exact topic - back in 2014). However the Home Office has updated their application now and I am aware the solution provided wont be as relevant anymore.

I am in Indonesian citizen applying as a British citizen ( applying as a spouse of British)

Section 1.5 - 1.7 = I have to put my surname and I believe I cant put my married name.

If I do want to do it I have to :

The name that you give in sections 1.5 and 1.6 should be the same name that is on
your current passport, travel document or Biometric Residence Permit. We will not
normally issue a certificate of registration or naturalisation in the name that is
different from a person’s official documents. Names that do not match your current
passport and /or other identity documents, may also cause problems when applying
for a British passport.

If you have married or entered a civil partnership and changed your name, and you
wish to be registered in that name, you should change your name on your other
passport, travel documents and national identity card, to reflect that name, before
sending us your application. This is to avoid a person having official documents in
more than one identity.

However, my husband researched this and found the thread on this website which said - I can put my married name and back up with my marriage certificate. It has been approved that it worked - back in 2014.

What should I do ? Should I give this a go (and worry it might cause trouble to my application) or stick to my maiden name and when the time comes I want to apply for Passport - I have to deal with the change of name on the certificate/ go through deed poll to get my maiden name change to married name.

Please advise and thank you in advance.

Regards
Liv

Go with advice in recent AN form and guidance.
Passport names (identities) should match naturalisation name.

So sort out any differences before applying to naturalise (change foreign passport) or after naturalising (by deed poll etc).

But the thing is my name on the brp card is issued as AA BB CC and i renewed my foriegn passport and i removed my middle name BB, now if i apply for naturalisation is there gonna be problems or how my name will be certificate. Im now worried
