Submitting Common passport

Post by tulips4u » Sun Jan 08, 2017 5:54 pm

Hello,

I and my daughter received the BC together last week and wish to apply for British passports (with many thanks for all the help we got through this forum!)

My daughter has been on my passport earlier but now has her own passport - so technically she has been on two previous passports . I'm not sure what to do as they ask to submit all old passports with the application for the British pp given that my passport (which is her first passport as well) will be submitted with my own application.

We will be using the check and send service. Can they submit the two passport applications together (due to the common passport)?

Any advise is much appreciated

Many thanks

Think so. Submit in common envelope.

If the passport is cancelled (e.g. it has a cut or a hole in the front and/or back) then it does not need to be submitted.

If the passport is expired but NOT cancelled (no cut or holes in the front and/or back of the passport cover) , then you need to submit it with your passport application.

If the common passport is cancelled , then it does not need to be submitted. In this case, I recommend that you submit your own application with your supporting documents (current and uncancelled passports + BC Certificates) and your daughter submit her own application separately with separate envelope to avoid any confusion. I suggest you both use Check and Send service , unless you're aiming to do the application online.

But if the common passport is expired and not cancelled , then I do recommend that you take your supported documents (e.g. current and uncancelled passports + BC Certificates) together with your completed and filled applications to your local Post Office and use their Check and Send Service. I am pretty sure that they will use ONE envelope for both applications.
