FLR(M) or SET(M)

Post by minlee » Mon Jan 16, 2017 2:47 pm

Hi all,

I need your expert advice a bit urgently.

There is all my visa history as follows:
a. 29 August 2012- 19th August 2014 : Tier5 ( Youth mobility scheme)
b. 20 August 2014- 20 FEB 2017 : FLR(M) as unmarried partner
*but married to my husband(British citizen) on Oct 2016**

As my visa will be expired in a month, i called UK immigration bureau (0300 123 2241) on Dec 2016 and they said i needed to apply SET(M). During the preparation of SET(M), I had some questions so called them again following day and then, the other adviser said that i need FLR(M) again, SET(M) will be incorrect form for me.

Could you kindly advise me which form (between FLR(M) and SET(M)) would be correct for me please?

Many Thanks in advance.

Regards,

Min

The advice given via the UKVI 'help line' is something of a lottery. Call them 10 times and you're likely to be given 10 different answers.

In this case the second advice given was correct. You should submit a FLR(M) application and in addition to the visa fee you will have to pay the £500 NHS fee.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Hi CASA,

I am much appreciated for the prompt reply. That is much clear now even though it is a bit annoying that i am required to pay for the health surcharge...I have paid for tax and NI for more than 4 years!!.:(.... but i am sure i cannot run away the rules....

it was very helpful. Thanks!!!
