Short term 11 months visa

I'm in the process of applying for a short-term visa 11 months.
One question I have is how many days before the course starts am I allowed to arrive in the UK?
I am from Taiwan.

You can arrive in the UK before your course starts:

• up to 1 week before, if your course lasts 6 months or less;
  up to 1 month before, if your course lasts more than 6 months;

11 month short term visa? Sounds new.

It'll fall under category C, which means that when the Visa is issued to you, you can fly to the UK in those times. Best liaise with your University though. Thery'll probably have an airport service.

No, not new. It was a concession under Student Visitor category since January 2011. Then when the rules were redesigned in April 2015 it became part of Short-Term Student.

Yes, it is not new.

For Tier4 visa they say 1 week if 6 months, or 30 days if 6 months or more.

But for short-term students this is very confusing, there is no information anywhere.

I need to come before my course starts to find accommodation etc, Surely I can't arrive the same day ?!

Does anyone have any info?

You can arrive whenever you like.

The rules require that you intend to leave the UK when your studies have finished. See immigration rules, paragraph A57E(b). Therefore if you wish to also do some tourism or general visiting while you are in the UK, you should do that before your studies, not after.
