Naturalisation - expired passport

Post by kylo » Mon Jan 30, 2017 8:43 pm

Hi,

I would like to apply for naturalisation for my wife, however it seems like she will need to take a SELT test first. This test itself will not be an issue as she has been in the UK over 10 years. But when looking at booking a test they seem to be specific about the type of ID that they will accept. Unfortunately her Indian passport has expired and they only accept a valid passport. She also does not have any of the other specified forms of ID.

Does this mean we will need to renew her passport first just to take the test? I'm not sure if there are any other alternatives.

Also her passport is in her maiden name. So if we do renew it would it make sense to do it in her married name. Or would that complicate matters as the passport is expired?
