When did my wife become a UK Resident?

Hi there,

First off, I'm really sorry if this has been asked before, but I've checked the FAQs and searched Google and come up with some bits and pieces and I'd really appreciate some confirmation.

My wife moved to the UK on a Spousal visa from the USA last February, and we're now sorting out her driving licence. The problem we're having is with the wording of the 12 months. It specifies that it starts when she becomes a UK Resident. Is that the date she arrived in the UK? Or the date her Visa began, as printed on her BRP?

I watch Police Interceptors on Dave! They catch someone every episode who's been driving on a foreign licence! Last one this lass had been driving since 2002 on a Thai licence!
