Brazillian Girlfriend Visiting UK On Holiday Visa

Post by roadie89 » Tue Jan 31, 2017 12:04 am

Hey all,

My girlfriend is due to visit the UK for 17 days on holiday and to see me for valentines day. It will be the first time she has visited from Brazil.

Ive heard numerous horror stories about Brazilian nationals being turned away from UK immigration.

I will be funding the whole trip and supporting her whilst she is staying with me. I will provide an invitation letter and a copy of my bank statements. She also has a return trip booked on the same reservation as her outbound travel. However she is currently unemployed and a university graduate. Her whole family live in Brazil and she cares for her elderly grandmother.

I am very worried that this is not enough to prove that she has a reason to return to Brazil. I'm amazed that it seems so difficult for someone to visiting England on holiday for such a little time.

Any help would be gratefully received. I was also amazed to learn that she needs a transfer visa for a 2 hour lay over in the US but maybe that's my naivety.

Many thanks.

Its all about proof of home ties and likelihood of returning home.

In your opinion would the evidence above be enough to prove ties to her home country and allow her to come and holiday with me in the UK?

Could be challenging for someone who is unemployed and has no property or business.
Someone who is young and single is very mobile.

Does your girlfriend have any evidence that she is her grandmother's carer?

I was worried you would say that. How about if I provide her family's letting agreement as it is her house as well?

She doesn't really have any evidence of caring for her grandma as it is unpaid.

The most annoying part is she almost got a job this month but wouldn't get any statutory holiday for a year from her start date. So either way she couldn't come and visit me in the UK.

That wouldn't have made any difference anyway. A job she's only held for month is hardly a 'strong tie'.
