Switching: Tier 4 to Tier 2

Post by gaj112 » Tue Feb 07, 2017 2:41 am

Hi Everyone

I have just applied for tier 2 Visa.I am switching from tier 4 to tier 2.
Background information
I completed my undergraduate degree from university and then started my MSc. My job is more relevant to my undergraduate degree therefore they offered me a job and applied for UCos, which was approved by UKVI in 4 days. We filled the form along with COS and my undergraduate degree and certificates as well as a letter from employer. My sponsor is A rated.

Is there anything to be worried regarding this switch because in tier 2 caseworker guidance it says that switch from tier 4 to tier 2 are high risk ? Does anyone know what sort of additional checks they carry for this visa switch?

Has anyone switching from tier 4 been refused ? Share your experience please

I think in your case a RLMT was needed, since u have not finished the course, for which the student visa you currently are on.
If it was after finishing your undergrad, rlmt would not have been needed.
So if RLMT is not done, you may have a problem.
IMHO.

I'm a bit confused now, in the guidance it states that you'll be exempted from RLMT if f you are switching from tier 4 and completed a degree from current leave or continuous leave. Even my employer was satisfied that they did not have to do RLMT.

With regards to my MSc, I've passed my all my modules and just waiting from r my dissertation grade. Do you still think they should have done RLMT ? Is there anything else to be called be concerned of apart from RLMT ?

Thanks for your reply

Like i said, i personally think u need the RLMT. Your current student visa is not the one on which u finished a degree.
If you are just waiting for dissertation to finish, then maybe u can continue working on your student visa and change once u have results for the entire MSC.
U need to be less than 26 years old to get a new entrant salary. Also the new entrant salary will only apply if they give u a cos of 3 years or less. If u get a 5 years cos, u will need to be paid at experienced level.
