Hello all,
Long time reader for advice and guidance, so thank you.
I now have a situation where I need some additional advice not listed on here so.
Here's my situation:
Non-EU Citizen - Native English Speaking Country
Settlement visa based on British Spouse Aug 2008
Arrived in UK Sep 2008.
ILR Oct 2010.
Professional with extensive qualifications and skills and in excellent financial circumstances.
Offered full-time employment in Aug 2009
Diagnosed with critical illness (neurological) in Aug 2010. Two months hospital stay followed by 6 months of long term rehab. Was off work from Aug 2010 - Jan 2011. Received full salary/benefits while off ill.
Returned to work on "phased returned" basis with shorter hours until Aug 2011. Concluded that I could not cope with high pressure full-time work to focus on health and recovery. Resigned from post and went off ill for 12 months.
Financial circumstances turned upside down. Hardly any income (except sickness related). Long story short, I went in to arrears with some of my unsecured creditors (used to finance some everyday living expenses). Most creditors worked with my situation to avoid bankruptcy. However, I ended up with two CCJs.
Since 2015, health has been recovering to a point where I have held a low-pressure, not as prestigious full time employment. As a result, I have been paying towards my CCjs and other debts monthly. No late payments since 2014. So all back on track.
Applied for Naturlisation last quarter last year by post. Fully disclosed CCjs with extensive background including evidence of illness and hospital stay etc.
I recently received a letter from HO asking for "evidence of necessary steps you are taking make payments." It's important to note that in my covering letter, I stated I was paying towards these two CCJs. Question is, will bank statements with these direct debits to creditors (usually 3rd party) suffice?
As most of the agreements between myself and creditors were agreed over the phone, there is very little "physical evidence" I can produce.
Any direction on this situation would be greatly appreciated.
Many thanks in advance.
