ILR Stamp in old passports

Post by tonyb » Mon Feb 13, 2017 11:51 am

Hello

My mother came to UK in 1974 with my Dad and lived in the UK ever since (married in India), she has an Indian passport only and her original passport in 1974 has a stamp from Home Office to state she has at present no limit on the holders stay in the UK and this is on all her old passports to date. She can go abroad but must show this passport with her present one to enter UK again. My dad passed away in 2013 and he had Indian passport to. They both worked in UK since 1974 and she receives my Dads pension from his work since his death and me and my older brother and sister are all UK born (British Citizens) . My mother lives with me and my brother and our wives.

We are going on holiday to Austria and applied for an Schenzen Visa for my mum and hers has been put on hold as they said they need an letter from Home Office stating she has right to stay in the UK, but no letter was ever sent she only has the stamp in the passport.

Please advise what we can do as they said will refuse the Visa for my mum if we cant get an letter, I have spoken with Home Office and they said cant just send letter like that?
