What's the dutch counterpart visa to Tier2/H1B

Post by rubyracer2 » Fri Feb 17, 2017 11:32 pm

Hi Gurus, I am an Indian national working in the UK. Could you please tell me what visa would be applicable to me to work in the Netherlands. Like the Tier 2 here.

Also is the visa tied to a specific employer like Tier 2 is or is it a general purpose work permit.

Thanks in advance!

You can start by looking at the IND.nl website.

If you are open to working anywhere in the EU, including the Netherlands, you may also wish to look at the EU Blue Card, which allows you to work across the EU (excluding the UK, Ireland and Denmark). Have a look at the Netherlands page for EU Blue Card and the EU Blue Card website.

The EU BlueCard is not an EU-wide work permit. In fact, it is in some ways more restrictive than traditional work permits under domestic immigration law (this differs of course from country to country).

For the first two years, employment is tied to a specific employer, any change in sponsor would have to first be sanctioned by the national department of labour.

For the first 18 months of residence under EU BlueCard, a BlueCard holder cannot apply for a BlueCard in another member state.

The BlueCard allows visits of up to 90 days in 180 within Schengen for touristic purposes only, just like any other Schengen-state issued residence permit.

The biggest advantage of the BlueCard is, that it offers an accelerated path to settlement, easier entry requirements for spouses and quicker unrestricted access to the job market for spouses.
