Child benefit claim

Post by Andygoesdutch » Fri Feb 24, 2017 9:03 pm

Hi
We came back to the uk in October 2016 via Surender Singh and I was just about to fill out the forms for child benefit and claim myself rather than my non EEA wife, however I see that it can help secure your state pension, therefore would it be better if possible for her to make the claim instead? Or would this affect her future application for a resident card or future ilr? She's not working at the moment as she is taking care of our daughter (who has a british passport)
Any advice would be greatly recieved
Thanks in advance
Andy

The claim for child benefit must be in your name alone.

Thank you for your answer.
So question 31 on the claim form asks
"is your partner entitled to child benefit now or are they waiting to hear if they can get child benefit?"
I should just say no?
Thanks in advance

The child benefit is based on both your's and your partner's income levels separately, so it should not matter I believe.
