Canada visit visa ONLINE Applocation

hi
I am applying a Canada visit visa for my wife who is an Indian national with PR in UK. As per the website , I can apply online , however I am not sure what the actual visa will be? I mean do I need to send passport at some point or it will be an electronic visa on a paper.

also, as per the required document list, person applying need to submit/Upload their tickets showing departing Canada . I dnt want to risk of loosing the £500 for tickets when I am not sure if she will be granted visa? can anyone suggest something on this?
