My wife (a Czech citizen) is currently in the process of putting together an application for UK DC PM (document certifying permanent residence) – using the online version of the form. She is an EEA national (A8 country) who has been residing in the UK since 2007 and been in full time employment or job seeking during all that time.
Unfortunately while filling the form out, we became aware of the Work Registration Scheme (WRS) for the first time – neither of us having ever heard of this before. My wife worked full time during the ascension period (which ended on April 2011) but was never asked to complete a WRS by any of her employers – so was never aware of its existence – and never had any WRS certificates.
Question 1: The A8 countries (including Czech) ascension period ended nearly six years ago (April 2011), so providing that my wife has worked (or been seeking work) during the last five years, the lack of her having any WRS during the ascension period should not impact on her application for DC PM – correct?
Question 2: One of my wife’s employments during the last 5 years began in 2010 (during the A8 countries ascension period). She stayed in this employment until mid-2012 (after the ascension period ended, but during the last 5 year period required for PM). Will the fact that this continual employment began in the ascension period with her having no WRS, but ended in the post-ascension period (and during the last 5 years) be a problem in the application?
Question 3: The online application form requires her to list all employments in the ascension period for which she had no WRS (which was sadly all her employments during that time). If I am correct in my assumption for Question 1 above, then filling these in should not threaten the success of her DC PM application – correct? It seems odd that they still ask for this for A8 countries, if the ascension period ended more than 5 years ago, and is no longer relevant for the application.
I would be most grateful for any help and advice from experts, lawyers or people who have made successful applications (or otherwise!) under similar conditions.
Thanks
