Swedish/Malaysian married couple moving to Denmark

Post by adelinesho » Thu Mar 02, 2017 2:57 pm

I am Malaysian married to Swedish and we got married in UK and live & work here. We are thinking to move to Denmark for my husband's work. I currently holds the EU spouse residence sticker on my passport. Can anyone please advise for moving to live in Denmark with my husband, what kind of residence permit do i need to apply and the lead time? Many thanks.

Hi Wanderer,

Thanks for sharing the case. I have browse thru 'New to Denmark' website and confuse about the application of non-EU spouse reunification is not the same as you mentioned in earlier post (processing time of 10 months and around 500EURO application fee). Just wonder if that refers to non-EU couple?

Would be much appreciate if anyone could advise shall i submit my application of residence to Danish consulate in London or upon arrival (reunion) with my husband in Denmark? i have a permanent job here going to Denmark also means i have to give up my job and start anew :(

It doesn't really matter where you apply the application in london or in denmark, either way they will be processed by the danish immigration authorities in denmark. As a spouse you are free to travel to denmark along with your husband, if you already have an article 10 residence permit (family member of an union citizen, printed on your sticker) you can use it and travel with your husband and then you have 3 months in denmark to put your application with all the documentation should be enough time. If you don't have an article 10 RP, its also fine, either you can apply in london an entry visa or even just travel with husband with all the documents and get one at the border crossing.
