I would like to know which will be the best option to apply visa and can i apply for extension after 7th april if i received cos in late time. Thank you.

For new CoS your employer will not need to run RLMT as it is visa extension. They can assign CoS as soon as they get the quota. If it happens after the date mentioned you can work for your employer in the interim but they will not be liable to pay you, until it is assigned to you with a start date and you have applied for visa extension.

you should really apply before your visa expire.. however, u can apply within 14 days and wont be classed as overstayer.
