Tier 2 General extension- Police Clearance Certificate

Hi, My apologies if this has been addressed elsewhere. I did have a look and could not find any information. My wife is applying for her Tier 2 general renewal in April 2017. With the new rule that came up as per the addendum dated 2nd march 2017 in the home office guidance document, I am confused now if the Police clearance is application only for new applications for entry clearance from outside UK or is it also applicable to renewals. We do work in the occupations mentioned on it in health care. Any guidance would be appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance. I did call the UK visa help line and got three different versions.

you dont have to get the police certificate.

Thank you for your response. Can you kindly provide the source. The reason I have spoken to 4 people at UK Visa and 3 said I don't have to but one said everyone had to. When I asked to be guided to the document which mentions that I don't have to they are referring to the same guideline which is ambiguous

We are in the same boat as you guys, Can you kindly let us know if the tier 2 dependent extension worked without a police clearance certificate.
