ICT Short Term VISA ext post new immigration rules APR17

Post by upendar » Wed Mar 22, 2017 4:47 am

Hello Members,

My employer sending me UK this April on ICT Short Term and my visa is valid till December 2017.
In light of coming changes to immigration rules, Would I be able to extend my Short Term visa to the remaining period(4 months) in December 2017 considering the fact that there is no more Short Term route after April 2017? Please advise.

Thanks in advance.

Maybe nobody has an answer until the actual Immigration rules due to change are published by HO
I think by 6th April you should have better clarity

Thank you poper. Well may be I take it as a no for now since extension involves a new COS with ICT ST visa type or wait for official announcement of changes.

With this I have come to a conclusion after going through gov.uk site and from this forum.
The better option is to come back to home country and apply for fresh ICT Long Term immediately to re-enter UK.

In this case cooling off period will not apply and I can apply ICT LT before (may be in a month advance) my current short term visa expires. Please confirm if this correct.

Thanks.

cooling off period should not apply between ST and LT visa. Might be prudent to apply for a LT visa now to avoid this hassle. Also you dont need to pay Immigration Skills levy if you apply before 6th April 2017.
best to negotiate with your employer

It appears like a Short Term ICT visa cannot be extended

https://www.gov.uk/tier-2-intracompany- ... -your-visa

5. Extend your visa
You might be able to apply to extend your stay in the UK if you’re on either a:

Long-term Staff visa
Graduate Trainee visa
You should include any dependants who are on your current visa on your application to extend - including children who have turned 18 during your stay.
