Long period of jsa effect on pr/citizenship application

Post by Twinsky » Fri Mar 24, 2017 9:28 am

Hi,

My husband made an application for British Citizenship in 2013 which was refused due to him not exercising his treaty rights for 5 years. The only gap he has is when he was receiving jsa for 10 months(in 2008-2009). I know generally the limit is 6 months but if you can prove you are a genuin job seeker it can be extended.

1. The law regarding to claiming jsa changed after 2014 can anybody please tell me what were the rules before the change?

2. How can we prove that he was a genuine job seeker? He got his sia and driving licence during the 10 months(jsa claim) and soon after he got a job. Isn't that prove enough?

Another question regarding to PR application and xl aiming benefit.
I am a self employed person (from an A8country) for over 7years. We are receiving the following benefits
Housing Benefit
Child Tax Credit
Council Tax
Working Tax Credit
Will receiving the above benefits have an effect on my pr application?

Any advice would be appreciated.
