Citizenship long delays urgent help required.

Post by shahidmahmood12345 » Sun Mar 26, 2017 3:55 am

Hello Guys.

I applied my case on 15th of june 2016 married to EU Citizen ( EUFam)
Got my acknowledgement in 3 weeks then in January 2017 they asked me many documents of my wife like ( 5years 560's Bills, Bank statements etc) so i sent them all, In February i contacted INIS through email about my application so they said "your case is in process and we see if you meet the statuary conditions, and it will be submitted to the minister" since then no reply i am still waiting. I didn't get any 2nd stage letter and all letters are coming from "Initial Processing team". I applied through a solicitor. I renewed my GNIB and got 6 month extension already which i have sent to department to the next day. Please can anyone suggest me about my case what is going on ? I was hoping to be in 21th April ceremony but no more hope:(.
Thanks guyz

It looks like your application is at initial stage, once you application is initially assessed you should get a letter from them saying "Your application has now been initially assessed and has proceeded to the second stage of processing".

If in doubt just send them an e-mail asking if the application has been initially assessed just to be sure.

the delay could be due to fact that you applied through a solicitor which normally make the processing time much longer than others

Thanks for your replies guys. Some of my friends suggested me to wait because department has alot of overload work due to Brexit and sometimes they are sending approvals to applicants without any 2nd stage letter and that's also right that applications through solicitors take longer than the normal one. All i can ask to my solicitor to contact INIS and ask them status of my application.

Thanks

Congrats You are lucky you got your approval in 5 months. I think all the applicants who have EUFam is delaying for no reason, As my solicitors said they are extra careful with the applications now and also depends who is dealing with my application. I have no offence and have been working since i am in Ireland plus my wife is working too.

Application date 19 Feb 2016, Based on 5 year residency, Spouse of EU
First letter 16 March 2016 - further letter 15 April 2016 asked for additional documents, sent them straight away.
I got my EU3 10 years approval at the end of July 2017, sent a copy of up to dated visa to citizenship department and they moved me to 2nd stage in August 2016.

I am getting answer that your application continues to be processed, since March 2016.

December 1st they asked me for the up to date GNIB card, which i sent next day.

Jan 18th sent them an email to know my application status, got response that my application is being prepared to be sent o minister, it has not been sent yet.

I got bit excited, at least they saying my application is being prepared to be sent to minister.

8 Feb sent them an email again, to check my application status. They replied your application continues to be processed.

9 Feb rang them, same answer, your application is continue to be processed.

My Local TD emailed them on 27th March and got the following reply:-

This Application is currently being processed with a view to establishing whether the applicant meets the statutory conditions for the granting of naturalization and will be submitted to the minister for the decision as expeditiously as possible. In general, it takes approx 6 months for a straightforward application to be processed from the date it is received to the date a decision it made.

However the nature of the naturalization process is such that for a broad range of reasons some cases will take longer than others to process. It is a statutory retirement that, Inter alia, applicants for naturalization be of good character. In some instances that can be established relatively quickly and in other cases completing the necessary checks can take a considerable period of time. As a result there will always be a proportion of cases that take longer than the normal to process.

I have no criminal history, never had any problem since living in Ireland, I dont know why my application taking so long.

One thing i would like to mention, I got my EUFAM3 10 year stamp in August 2016, my local immigration officer granted me permission until Nov 2017, because my passport was due to expire in Nov 2017. I recently got a new 5 years passport, maybe i should extend my stamp and send them 5 years GNIB card, maybe it will help to move my application?

in my opinion, they will not move your file to 2nd stage unless you get EU3 or EU1 stamp approval from EU treaty right department. Temporary 6 month or 3 months stamp do not help, they will wait for your permanent stamp approval.

Thanks for sharing your experience. One of my friend also said that they are waiting for EUFam Stamp so they will approve straight away. I will have to wait til july then. Its really long wait but that's all we can do. My Solicitors writing them a letter so let's see what they say this time.

Hi Why didn't you apply for EU3 people get it a lit it's not that Difficult ..unless your file for Eu3 was not very good . For example if your wife worked every 5 years it's very easy i think.

But again they gave to some people with temp stamp in february so nothing is set on a stone  however they treat people differently

I didn't apply for EU3 because of my Solicitor's advice otherwise i would apply for EU3. She was confident that my approval will be in 6 months which didn't happened. Its really annoying to wait so long. I know i will have to wait till my EUFAM1 not renewed. My solicitor is writing a letter to department and will know next week and i will update you guys.

Hi,

I have discussed my problem in different threads, I need an assistance . I applied for a citizenship in june 2016 Married to EU citizen EUFam. Still not answer. I have sent all docs related to my spouse requested by the department. I emailed them twice and recently they replied me

(" Your application continues to be processed. While it is not possible to give an exact timeframe, this office will be in touch as soon as a decision has been reached.")

My question is almost 9 months has passed and i dont know what's going on. I dont have any criminal offences and never applied for social welfare. I never got any 2nd stage letter plus i applied through a solicitor. Any good advice would be appreciated.
Thanks
