Asylum seeker marriage to British Citizen within UK

Post by lilbumblebee01 » Tue Mar 28, 2017 12:47 am

Hi,

I am an asylum seeker and my British partner and I are planning to get married. We've been in a relationship for 1 year 7 months and have lived together for 1 year 4 months. I first came into the UK 7 years ago from Nigeria on a tier 4 visa. My asylum application was made before my visa ran out in January 2016.
My application was denied and so was the appeal, but an error of law was established so we have another hearing 2 months from now.

My questions are:
1) Is it difficult to obtain marital permission form the HO and will we be interviewed?
2) If so, how long till we can marry after stating our interest at the local registry and how long will the spouse visa application process take?
3) Can I use my UK driving licence and ARC as proof of ID at the registry as the HO have my passport with them?

Would really appreciate some help :)

you should be able to get married no problem. How did you manage to get your driving license in the uk? home office don't attend weddings much now a days but they might interview you ..notice of marriage is normally 70 days and it can take a while so do it as soon as possible...
