Travel abroad during BC application

Post by MKO » Tue Apr 04, 2017 3:13 pm

Hi all

I was doing a quick check today about this application.
I'm an EU citizen and got my residence documentation on May 2016 (shortly before the referendum) meaning that i should quality for BC in a couple of months.
I have seen however that the application process is not really business-traveler friendly.
Since i only paid £65 for my residence card, i got only a piece of paper with my photo in it, not the bio-metric permit a person applying for ILR gets (thus probably my permit won't qualify as a proper ID).
It seems in that case the only ID documents that qualify are a passport or a driving licence (both needed when doing business trips) - my driving licence is a full EU one though, not British.
Does this application really mean that the applicant can't travel or drive abroad (or even in the UK) while the application is being processed (at least 6 months as I read). Is anyone aware of a possible solution for this (wonder whether it's possible to replace my residence documentation paper for a Bio metric card and use that one for the BC application?)

If you have been in that situation and managed to solve it somehow, i would be very grateful of your comments.

Thanks.

Use NCS / JCAP and you'll keep your Passport and other valuable documents during the process, and can travel of course (recommend wait for biometrics letter). You can also apply for the passport at the same time. Check with your council. NCS Fee is about £60 for AN plus extra for Passport.

That was a good piece of advice alterhase, didn't even know that option was available.

Thanks a lot,
