fee Waiver who is it for

Post by zakir1988 » Fri Apr 07, 2017 10:42 pm

I wanted to know who is the fee waiver for as my wife will apply for Her DL she relies on me as she don't work due to having 2 year old child

Me and my wife don't have the means to pay as I only work part time earning £296 every two weeks and I'm in debt in an insolvency voluntary agreement cause I paid for FLR FP on credit card and also can't borrow money from family as my parents don't work there on benefits.

Plus this is putting my wife at risk we only have the means to pay rent, gas electric bills etc...

So this means my wife should qualify for fee waiver if someone has got fee waiver could you please explain what was your situations to getting it.

I will speak to citizen advice Bureau and find out.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... nd-refunds

This is currently under review but the new policy in 2015 was as follows:

(section 4.9):

‘The applicant will need to provide relevant evidence of their income and expenditure so that their disposable income can be calculated. Caseworkers will need to use their judgement in assessing the applicant’s spending habits to decide whether or not they are considered to have disposable income and the amount of this’.

The policy also requires applicants to be able to show that they cannot borrow money for the fee from family or friends, or that they have not intentionally deprived themselves of capital, which can include paying off debts before they are required to do so and buying a personal possession that is clearly not essential to their living needs. Migrants who recently entered the UK and demonstrated that they had adequate funds to be granted a visa for entry may be considered to have intentionally deprived themselves of capital to avoid paying the application fee if they subsequently claim to have spent this money.
