Visa expires during Joint Tenancy

Post by tlelek » Sat Apr 08, 2017 8:29 am

Hi all,

I'm on a Tier 5 YMS visa that will be expiring in the next few months.
My work has offered to sponsor me on a Tier 2 General visa, however I will need to leave the UK and apply from my home country.

My girlfriend (British Citizen with Passport) and I are currently in a joint tenancy agreement until August.

Between now and when the tenancy agreement end, my visa will expire whilst I'm in my home country applying for the new visa.

Will there be any issue with my girlfriend staying and continuing living as a tenant, even though my name will also be on the agreement?

Any information that can be provided would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Tim.

That's something you need to discuss and agree with the landlord.

However, one point of caution. Your employer will have to fully comply with the RMLT and show that there was no UK/EEA applicant who was suitable for the position. It may be difficult to convince the HO that you weren't pre-selected when you have already been employed by the company.
