How to write salary & could start date b later than COS date

I just read that salary information could be reason for refusal of application please advise how r u mentioning salary on tier 2 general visa application form
My COS is valid until 15/05/2017, can I write my start date as 1st june 2017 or it should be before 15/05/2017.

The start date can be after the expiry of cos application duration.
