i am german living in the UK, have 2 boys from a British dad

Post by sandragedny » Wed Apr 19, 2017 5:10 pm

Hi, I am German and have lived in the UK for 18 years, I haven't got an address in Germany any more.
My 2 Boys were born in Dec. 99 and in June 05, they have the same British Dad. The older son was born before we got married. Can they get German passports and what do I need to do if they can to get them? I have now separated from their Dad but we are not yet divorced.

Yes both children are British Citizen. Need to apply for their passport and show the marriage certificate and evidence of their father's passport.

If your were exercising treaty rights at the time the Older one was born, then a marriage certificate will not be necessary.

Obie, unless I've missed something it appears that the OP is asking about the right to apply for a German passport, not a British one.

You are absolutely right. I think it is the mention of the dad that confused me.

Yes, unless you were not born in Germany after 31 December 1999.
