SHEFFIELD

Post by smogmag » Thu Apr 20, 2017 10:27 am

Dear All

Does anyone have any reliable contact details for Sheffield?

In brief, my wife made her application for ILR in mid March (this will be her third 3 year visa) and we then received a letter asking her to go and have her biometrics done. I wrote back straight away to say she already has a biometric passport (in fact it was sent in with the application). I have yet to receive a reply, but now my wife's employer has been written to to say she cannot now work in the UK? I'm totally confused and need to speak to Sheffield asp.

I should add that for her previous 2 visas there was no issue. We have two UK born children and have never had a problem before?

Thanks in anticipation

Steve

Hi,

The letter which was sent to you was for biometric enrolment which is part of every visa application. It has nothing to do with Biometric Passports. Every applicant has to enrol biometrics in order to get Biometric Resident Permit.

Your wife should have enrolled her biometrics when requested as failure to do so results in visa application being refused.

Did you just received one letter for enrolling biometrics or received any reminder as well?

Thanks,
Hassan

All applicants must enrol their Biometric information for a UK visa application. This has NOTHING to do with a Biometric passport :? This is the Biometric information used when issuing a BRP residence card.
It seems you decided on your own what that means and your wife failed to enrol the Biometrics which make her application invalid. This is really silly :?
If your wife's previous visa has already expired, she will be considered an overstayer from the date of her visa expiry and loses her right to work if her application is returned as invalid. This could put her eligibility for ILR at jeopardy

Dear Zimba

I had no idea that my wife would have to once again give her biometric information. I presumed that once taken that was it? If this is not so then we can easily go and provide it. The forms do not make this clear.... I am unused to being referred to as 'silly'. I simply thought that perhaps the HO had made a mistake in asking her to again provide her biometrics? Hence why I cam to this 'help' forum.

We are well within the 15 working day deadline.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

We are well within the 15 working day deadline.
Then give biometrics immediately. It looks like application has not been decided and once she enrols her biometrics, she will hopefully get ILR.

Regarding, the letter received by your employer, is it from Home Office advising them your wife is not allowed to work anymore? I am not sure why the letter has been sent to them when her ILR application is still in process.

Thanks,

All the ILR forms make it very clear that Biometrics needs to be enrolled. For example SET(O) form literally says:
Your application may be rejected as invalid if you do not enrol your biometrics when requested.
If you have received a letter that requires you to enrol, you must do that within the time frame mentioned. If that has not passed, you better enrol the Biometrics as soon as possible. If you applied before your wife's expiry date, she has the right to work until her application is decided.
