Hi im fairly new to this forum and was hoping to get some advice.
I got married in india and we applied for my wife to come to the uk. Her initial appointment was on the 16th feb and my solicitor sent the supporting documents to sheffield on 22nd feb.
My concern is that i have read a few posts where some people have recieved the original documents back after one week but i still havent to date.
Is this something i should be worried about?

Did you send a pre paid return envelope that is sufficient in postage money to return your documents, my documents was around 4kg and a special delivery return envelope was around £28

Hi
Im so sorry I have no advise to give but I did have a question...
I have seen this on a few peoples posts where their partner is not in the UK and they are applying for a spouse visa and documents are sent by the sponsor to sheffield??
How does this work exactly?? i may have misunderstood.. So the applicant has an appointment in their home country is that for biometrics etc?? and then the applicants sponsor sends all the supporting documents to sheffield??
I assumed they only way to apply is for the applicant to have all the documents themselves and they have to give it to the consulate/embassy in their home country.
Thank you!

For applications for India (not sure with other countries) the applicant attends the appointment. The sponsor will then need to submit all the paperwork to sheffield. I was in the uk after i got married and had all the documents with me upon my return.
When the applicant goes for their bio this info is sent to sheffield and advise you by email that you have 10 working days to sent all supporting docs to them otherwise they will make a decision without it.

No, haven't had anything back from them. Im hoping they will return them back once a decision has been made. Hopefully there isn't much longer to wait.

I just submitted my documents to Sheffield yesterday for my wife (from Russia) and they were delivered today. I'm not an expert on this but I think the guidance is that it can take up to 60 days to make a decision and that is working days. You're currently at about 49-52 working days depending upon whether they count all the bank holidays recently. Probably nothing to worry about and the decision is close.
I paid for priority and the guidance on that is 15 working days but not guaranteed. Perhaps the posts you're reading here were also submitted with priority. Any priority applications will be dealt with ahead of all others but even they are queued in order behind each other. Just depends how busy they are.
My wife got an online account with the 3rd party company in Russia were she can track the progress but that might just be because we paid priority. Did you get this?
Hope that gives you some comfort. Good luck!

Thanks SimonS for your reply.
We didn't get no option for the track service and I assume it something to do with those who have paid for priority. In hindsight, I wish i knew about this back then but didn't as I did my application through our lawyer.
Ill just have to wait and see.
Good luck with your application too!
