Family Visit visa from Turkey for parents/in laws

Hi All - apologies if this has been covered a million times, I've had enough of visas to last a lifetime. My husband (Turksih) our daughter (both) and I ( English) have lived in Ireland over 2 years now and he has his permanent residence card under EU freedom of movement etc.
We would like our Turkish family (his mum and dad) to visit here and are applying for a friends and family VISIT visa for them from Izmir, Turkey which we are sponsoring ( we both work and have a big enough house, car etc) . Has anyone any experience of this type of visa, timescales and success rate etc? We are providing all the usual blurb bank statements etc but I wonder if it's as tough as the UK one and they are likely to get refused . They are semi retired and have ties back to home country such as homes and family but its hard to show as you all know! Would love to hear anyone's experience , thanks so much all

I've had similar experience to yours in relation to my dependent relative. I initially applied for a C Visa Single entry since she had never set foot in Ireland (which was approved in 7 days from applying). Previously she visited the U.K. in two different occasions for 6 months at a time and not breached the visa conditions then. I believe this has helped too.

I too initially considered a Family visit visa however I can't exactly remember from where but it was suggested to apply for the C Visa first then once the relative was in Ireland to apply for a multiple entry visa extension. The argument goes that since the relative has no immigration history in Ireland they are considered a risk therefore applying for a single entry somehow is less risky and more logical (I know, don't ask). Like you've already mentioned make sure your in laws satisfy entry requirements (I.e sufficient funds in their bank accounts, family ties, properties etc). The C Visa application won't cost you a penny.

I read from your post that it may be difficult to show ties back in Turkey. Have you considered the in laws providing a family tree certificate which list the names of all the family members (I've used such evidence in the past and seem to have been accepted)? Also house deeds may be an option. As for them being semi-retired consider a letter from employer etc?

Thanks for this. Well we are sending the remaining documents today over and they will just take in and pay the fee so fingers all crossed. Have taken your advice and shown birth certificates of family and that remains in turkey and house tenancy agreement etc I've also written some hopefully quite good letters so we shall see

I didn't think you have to pay for the visa if the EU citizen applied for it? In other words if the person holding the EU State passport applied for the visa then no charges should incur.

Whilst the letters are useful, the most important factor to keep in mind is that the relatives are the ones who need to "tick all the boxes" in order to fulfil the visa conditions
