Switching from Tier 2(General) to Tier 4

Post by pkotha » Wed May 03, 2017 12:26 pm

Hi All,

Good afternoon. I'm on Tier 2(General) Visa since September 2012, My company licence got suspended but not revoked yet, they are still fighting.

I came to UK in June 2008 to do my MSC, I did my Masters in IT from Highly Trusted University. I want to switch from Tier 2(General) to Tier 4 to do my MBA. I've 7 year's of IT Professional Industry experience as an IT Consultant. I've couple of doubts here, please help.

1) Can I switch from Tier 2(General) to Tier 4 to do MBA, as I did my Master's in IT previously from University?

2) If I switch to Tier 4, I'm still be eligible for ILR through 10 year's Human rights?

Many thanks in advance.

Regards,
Pav

This is a question for your university. If they agree it is academic progression from your previous studies, they will confirm that on the CAS and you can apply in the UK -- as long as the new course starts before your Tier 2 leave ends or is curtailed, or no more than 28 days later. If the university does not agree it is academic progression, but they agree to issue a CAS, you will need to make the Tier 4 application in your home country.

Advise you ask this in the forum about ILR.

Hi all! I will be moving to the UK soon for a job and have to start studies in September end. I am going to be sponsored by the employer till then and would have to switch to a student visa when I start my course. Can I switch from tier 2 to tier 4 while staying in the UK or would I have to come back to my home country for that? Asking because I'd have to factor in the time and cost associated with that if I have to return for the visa switch.
Thanks!
