EEA visa, we are not married, how to prove our relationship?

Post by danmir » Wed May 03, 2017 2:26 pm

Hello !

I am EU citizenship and I've got job in England.
My girlfriend is non EU citizenship and we want to move to England together.
We don't live in UK yet. We are not married.
We are applying for EEA Family visa for my girlfriend.

1. How can we prove that we lived together for two years?
We have only "flat rent document" from 2016 (only one year).
Which documents do we need provide to prove our two years?

2. Bank statement is needed?
if yes, can we only print history from internet? or we need to go to bank and pay for document with stamp?

3. On the TLScontact website, we have:
Non-Settlement
Family Visitor (> 6 months)
Family Visitor (<6 months)
Settlement
Visitor (> 6 months)
Visitor (<6 months)
Tier 1
Tier 2
Tier 4
Tier 5

We don't know which type of visa we should choose. We've chosen "Family Visitor (<6 months)". Can my girlfriend work in UK with this type of visa ?

Best regards,
Danmir

1. You need to show official correspondence spanning the 24 months you have been living together, e.g. flat lease, electricity bills, council bills etc. The documents must span over 2 years, as this is a requirement for unmarried couples.
Read the guidance notes here: https://www.gov.uk/family-permit/overview and here to see how your application will be considered: https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... e-officers

2. Financial requirements not actually necessary for EEA applications (experts please correct me if I am wrong) but if you want to use bank statements as evidence of cohabitation it has to be certified. So yes you need to get it stamped at the bank.

3. Because you are an EEA citizen, your partner is non-EEA, you are unmarried, and you are currently outside the UK, your partner should apply for the EEA Family Permit first. This is valid for 6 months, and grants the right to work. Once you and your partner are in the UK, you partner can apply for the EEA EFM Residence Card. This is valid for 5 years, and grants the right to work.
