Tier 2 ICT Long Term Visa Extension

Hi,

I am in the UK under Tier 2 ICT Long Term Staff Migrant visa (above 3 years category).

My initial/current CoS date is from 31-08-2016 to 30-08-2018 and hence, I got my visa valid for 2 years only, even though I applied for and paid visa fees for above 3 years category.

Can I extend my Tier 2 ICT Long Term visa for another 3 years if my current employer issues a new CoS from 31-08-2018 to 30-08-2021 ? OR should the initial CoS have been issued for 5 years to be eligible for extension ?

Please advice.
