Spouse Visa - Financial Requirement With Child

Post by klite12 » Sun May 07, 2017 7:09 pm

Hi Guys,

I'm a bit confused on something in regards to the spouse visa application.

I understand that I need £18,600 to sponsor my wife to come to the UK - and with a child that requirement is £22,400. However, if I am the father of the child, is the child then not automatically British? thus not requiring the additional income? or does the child have to be born in the UK for that to happen? Or even if the child is born in the UK and is British, do I still need to provide £22,400?

I didn't really understand this fully. Furthermore, the second part to my question is that I understand myself and my spouse can work towards achieving the £18,600 goal to extend the visa - However if for whatever reason we're unable to achieve that. What options do we have available to us? The reason I ask this is that my income will drop considerably when I resume my education and both my wife and I will work towards achieving the goal. It's for the sake of knowledge more than anything but I'd like to know.

Thanks!

The fee is currently £936. You won't have to include them in the income calculation. https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... n-form-mn1

If you are unable to meet the minimum income level when your wife's FLR(M) extension is due your only option will be to submit a FLR(FP) Partner route visa. This would be a new 10 year route to ILR.

Thanks!

Ahh ok, that's great. I'm not a father yet, I just got married a few weeks ago to my fiance of almost four years. I was just curious. So if I register my child as a British Citizen, I then don't need to provide £22,400 or any form of income requirement for that child.
