Italian passport application from UK

Hey guys

My neighbour asked me to help her out. She is a Indian citizen married to italian of indian origin. They applied for birth registration and passport for their new born daughter. Now when they went for their appointment to italian consulate sometime in Feb the consulate told them that they have lost their child's original British birth certificate and that they need to book another appointment to come and collect passport. These poor chaps haven't been able to secure a new appointment themselves and asked me to look online. When I did all am reading is horrid reviews about long waits and appointment dates being scanty. And very very very delayed processing times. Any suggestions of securing appointment to passport office quickly?
