Switching Tier 2 dates

Post by Blattes » Wed May 10, 2017 12:56 pm

Hello everyone,

I am planning to switch from Tier 4 to Tier 2 in UK, my current visa expires 28th of June. My question is I have talked to my company about the contract I will receive in order for me to apply for visa but I am planning to visit my family in Turkey before my contract starts so that I won't be using my holidays officially. I am of course going to apply for visa before my current visa expires but let's say I applied with a work contract starts on mid-july on 11th of June (I will be applying for premium service), and get my visa same day, will this visa start from 11th of June or mid-july? Will I be still able to stay in UK between those days? Will I be still able to travel? Thanks in advance. I hope it makes sense. :)

Hello,
Thanks for the prompt reply, is there an official link says it can be 3 months before the start? So can my contract start on 28th of August (3 months after my current visa expire date)?

SOC code

Post by Blattes » Wed May 10, 2017 2:55 pm

Hello everyone,

I am graduated from 18 months Masters course Interior Design in UK, currently got a job offer in a Spam Design company, which is offering me £20,800 (new entrance salary). The job is under NQF 4, SOC2010 which is now changed to something else (RQF 4, 3422).

Related job titles:
• Design consultant
• Fashion designer
• Furniture designer
• Interior designer
• Spam designer
• Textile designer

Salary rates:
New entrant: £19,700
Experienced worker: £23,700

My questions are:
Is 20,800 or 19,700 eligable?
Am I able to apply with NQF/RQF 4 job with Masters degree? I have seen some people saying I can not apply for this level of job since I hold masters degree which I had no idea of! Can someone please help me on this?

you need a job at nvq level 6 min to be sponsored for a tier 2 visa.
anything lower than that is not open for new tier 2 visa.

Hello,
The job is at level 4 however I check on: https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... l_2015.pdf (which says latest one)

"Table 3: Occupations skilled to NQF level 4
Tier 2 applicants can only be sponsored for jobs in these occupations if:
 the applicant is a Croatian national, or
 the job appears on the Shortage Occupation List, or
the job is in one of the creative sector occupations marked “(Creative)”, or "

The job is stated as Creative, I think I can still apply for this job, no?

Thanks. I am 23, I just wanted to make sure this information is correct, since my university's international is more clueless than I am... Do you think this info is for everyone who is applying for Tier 2? Does it matter if I am switching or not?

Salary rates: New entrant: £20,800* / Experienced: £23,000
[Source: Annual Survey of Hours and Earnings 2014]
* [The Tier 2 minimum threshold is higher than the rate shown by the ASHE data]
Does anyone know how I can find out what is the minimum Tier 2 threshold for this? In codes of practice it says for thresholds:
The lower pay threshold for new entrant employees is set at the 10th percentile of the pay distribution for full-time employees in that occupation.
I don't understand what this means. How can I find out what is the new entrant salary?

Personally I suggest you postpone the travel and set an early start date with the company.
