Quick question - Employed vs Self-employed

Very quick question I'd love some advice on:

My partner is Ghanaian and is the co-founder/country director of a charity (NGO). Do we put that he's employed or self-employed? since all decisions, like salaries, are made from our trustees, I presume we'd put employed but please let me know what you think.
