Indefinite Leave to Enter Help!

Post by shaikh96 » Tue May 16, 2017 2:56 pm

Hi, I am applying for naturalisation and I have a question. I have lived in the UK from the age of 3. My family moved here in 1999. To my knowledge, my first "passport" was where I was on my mothers passport. I have no physical record of this as I am estranged from my parents. I have an old expired Pakistani passport issued on 8/2/06, expiring 02/02/07, which was my first passport for just me. In this passport I also have a stamp issued on 20/03/06 and expiring on 03/03/08 for "Indefinite leave to enter the UK." I had a new passport made on 04/06/15 which I have stapled to the older passport. I have obtained letters from my previous school and current university, confirming my enrolment as a student and proving dates of enrolment, dating from September 2008-Present. I have done both the Life in the UK test and the English speaking test. I had a period of absence from the UK of one month or less from October 2008 to November 2008. I am concerned that as this was outside the validity of the Indefinite leave to enter, my application for naturalisation will be denied. My older passport also includes a stamp in the observations pages stating "The validity of this passport may please be read as/extended upto 07-02-2011" stamped alongside a stamp for "High Commission for Pakistan Consular Division London."

Please may someone with knowledge of the outcome of this type of circumstance advise me on what to do. Should I apply? I don't want to lose out on the fee for the application as I have been saving for the past few months for it.

You should be okay, unless you have been absent from the UK for over two consecutive years.
