EU national getting married with tier 5 visa (YMS) partner

Post by pblpi » Sun May 21, 2017 7:56 pm

I am planning to get married to my partner in June/July this year. We have been in this relationship and lived together almost 3 years. I am holding a Portuguese passport and live in the UK for 4 years, and my partner is holding the tier 5 visa (YMS) and the visa is expiring in November this year. I would like to ask does my partner need the marriage visa for registration? :?

Thank you!

Registration for what exactly? If you are referring to registering your intent to marry in the UK, this can only be done through a Home Office designated Registry Office. The Registrar is then legally bound to notify the HO who can extend the standard notification period from 28 to 70 days in order to interview you both separately if they choose to do so before the wedding can take place.

The Registrar will want to see both of your passports and the Tier 5 visa.
