UKBA have lost my passport internally!

Post by pph_85 » Thu May 25, 2017 12:58 pm

I am writing to seek some advice regarding immigration. 3 weeks ago, I submitted my passport and documents to apply for an extension on my spousal visa to remain in the country. I am in the strong belief that the Home office or UK Border Agency have lost my passport as my package was delivered and signed for successfully. I also contacted Royal Mail no damage was reported on arrival.

I have contacted the UK Border agent on multiple occasions and have been asked to write to them and wait. I have also contact my MP who is unable to do anything at the moment as there is now a general election.

I am concerned with being deported as I have a legal right to stay here with my married partner in the UK and it shouldn't be so difficult with such a straight forward extension application. Any advice will be helpful. I have 7 days to action this.

Why do you think that the Home Office/UKV&I have lost your passport? Have they written to you asking for it, stating that it was missing from your application?

If you have only submitted your application three weeks ago, you should just wait. It can take about a month or two for straight-forward applications to get processed. Complex ones can take longer.

See the FLR(M) timeline for an understanding of how long it can take.

Hi Simon

Yes that is exactly what they did. They wrote me a letter saying that my passport and two passport photos are not included in my application when I clearly remember attaching them in my document parcel. The document was signed and received by Home Office on the 10 May 2017. Royal Mail reported there were no damages to the parcel.

I have written to them and it is a bit of a waiting game now. I'll try and write to them again in 5 days as they have given me a 10 day deadline to "produce" a passport which is meant to be in their possession.

If you have any further advice or experience please share. Thanks
